Dear IALCO
friends,
I'm afraid we've had some distressing news. Clive Reed informed me
that he resigned from Emirates recently; and Karen Mak will leave
Cathay Pacific in the next few weeks to pursue other career
opportunities.
Together with our conference hosts Isabel Cordeiro and Isabel Maia
of TAP Air Portugal, we've had to decide to cancel the IALCO
Conference planned for May in Lisbon. There was too much to do and
too little IALCO manpower left to help the hosting airline with all
aspects of a successful conference, both in terms of attendees and
of program content.
In early consultations with a few longtime participants and
considering developments over the last few years, I feel we have
reached a point where we need to reconsider the IALCO organization
and its added value as well as the 'power base' under which to
operate. A few of us are starting to collect ideas for the future
and we look forward to hearing from you. Let us know how you feel
about IALCO and its future as well as what kind of support you can
give.
The IALCO website and the yahoo mail group provide our best means of
communication at the moment – and we plan to exploit them both to
the fullest! We'll be in touch again in the near future to let you
know what we've heard and what that means for our plans.
Best regards from a slightly lonely, but basically optimistic
Secretary General,
Danielle Ferrante
